Our Lady of Lourdes Mwea Hospital is developing a rainwater harvesting and storage system to secure a reliable water supply for hospital operations and the self-sustainability agriculture projects (rice, dairy, poultry, and maize farming).
The system will capture rainwater from hospital rooftops, store it in dedicated tanks, and distribute it for non-clinical use and irrigation. This reduces dependence on municipal water and lowers utility costs.
The project is partially funded through the hospital’s self-sustainability revenue and a local partner contribution. Additional funding is being sought to complete the storage and distribution infrastructure.
