Infrastructure projects shaped by the 2009-2013 strategic plan with CRS Kenya
Through the support of CRS Kenya (Catholic Relief Services), OLLMTRH developed a strategic plan to give direction for the period 2009 to 2013. The plan was built on the organization's experiences, its key achievements and lessons learnt, and the skills and competencies of the organization.
This strategic framework guided major infrastructure investments, including the construction of a new medical school, a modern ICU facility, and the enlargement of the radiology department — each project strengthening the hospital's capacity to deliver excellent, affordable, and accessible healthcare.
Completed and ongoing infrastructure projects under the strategic plan.

The first phase of the Medical School tuition block — complete and now operational, with remaining works to be finished as soon as possible.

How the development projects have improved patient care at OLLMTRH.
The medical school building enables OLLMH to train the next generation of nurses and clinical officers, addressing Kenya's healthcare workforce shortage.
The modern ICU facility provides life-saving intensive care locally, reducing the need to transfer critically ill patients to distant hospitals.
The enlarged radiology department houses a 16-slice CT Scan, bringing advanced diagnostic imaging to the Mwea community.
The strategic plan was developed with the support of Catholic Relief Services, demonstrating the power of faith-based partnerships.
The 2009-2013 plan provided a structured framework for growth, built on lessons learnt and the organization's core competencies.
Each project expanded the hospital's physical capacity, enabling us to serve more patients with a wider range of services.
Advanced instruments and systems ensure the most comprehensive and fast treatment results for our patients.
These developments mean Mwea residents can access quality healthcare and training without travelling to Nairobi or other cities.
