Dairy Farming

The dairy farming project is an effort by Our Lady of Lourdes Mwea Hospital to achieve self-support in milk production for patients and the entire community of the hospital. The dairy unit supplies fresh milk to the hospital kitchen daily, supporting patient nutrition.

The herd is managed using modern dairy practices, with attention to animal health, feeding, and hygiene to ensure consistent milk quality and yield.

Surplus milk beyond the hospital’s needs is sold to the local community, creating an additional revenue stream that supports the hospital’s mission of affordable, accessible healthcare.
