Maternity Wing Expansion

The Maternity & Maternal Health department is one of the busiest at Our Lady of Lourdes Mwea Hospital, serving a growing catchment population in Mwea, Kirinyaga County. The planned maternity wing expansion will increase bed capacity, add modern delivery rooms, and improve newborn care facilities.

The expansion is aligned with the hospital’s commitment to providing excellent, affordable, and accessible maternal healthcare. The expanded wing will include a dedicated kangaroo care area for premature infants and improved postnatal recovery spaces.

The project is currently in the fundraising phase, with the hospital seeking partners and donors to support this critical infrastructure investment.
