Our Lady of Lourdes Mwea Hospital is advancing an ambitious solar energy initiative to reduce grid dependence, lower operating costs, and ensure a reliable power supply. The system will support the ICU, S.M.I. Diagnostic Centre, laboratories, theatres, and other critical services.

The proposed installation will feature high-efficiency rooftop solar panels on the main hospital block, supported by a robust battery-storage system for backup during power outages. Savings from reduced electricity costs will be reinvested in patient care, medical services, equipment, and other essential priorities.

The initiative reflects the hospital’s commitment to self-sufficiency, innovation, environmental stewardship, and responsible resource management. Funding and strategic partnerships are being sought to support this sustainable healthcare project and strengthen the hospital’s long-term resilience.
